Magazine Advert Construction

when creating my magazine advert i used adobe photoshop 7.0 to create the text and used a still image i had taken using a digital camera. I tried to make my advert resemble a broadway poster because i wanted to give a nostalgic look to it to fit in with the melancholic feel of the song, i also think that it makes the advert stand out and will catch the eye of magazine readerswhich draws them into reading the rest of the advert; with this in mind i have included where to buy the prduct advertised and the website for the band which is intended to gather a larger fanbase. The style in which i have created the band name is going to be repeated on the digipack to carry a theme throughout that the audience will recognize creating brand identity in the products.
Left: Mock up of digipack.
Right: Final digipack, following conventions of existing media texts. I added reviews to add a level of verisimilitude, i also chose not to use a full page image to make it look more like a shot from an old film than an advert, adding to the band name.

Digi-pack
i createrd a 6 pane digi pack on adobe photoshop 7.0, this consists of a front cover with the band name and album title using the sam fonts as the magazine advert to help create brand identity, a back cover with the barcode and track listing and then 4 panes inside of which 3 are images relating to the band and music video then a blank black pane which the CD will sit on. I used dark colours to subvert the conventions of modern popular music, making it seem somewhat post modern.

this is a mock up of my digipack using images that i had taken using a digital stills camera, the images were not relevant to thefinal product so I still had to create a final draft but we still used some of the same conventions such as greyscale, and using small text on the rear pane.
This is my final digipack, the images are of scenes from my music video which i took during filming with a stills camera, my digipack now has the band name in a larger copy because it is a self titled album and the text is in red so that it stands out more from the background adding contrast. The digipack now features the band members on almost every pane which is similar to existing digipack such as that of Gorillaz:

Final Product

To construct my music video I used a Flip Mino HD camera and gorilla pod tripod along with props such as guitars that i provided my self . The filming took 2 and a half hours and editing took just inder a day to do. This entailed cutting the video and re arranging it and changing the time frame to fit with the track. I also added a greyscale filter and title frame to the start as well as fade affects.
